"DEFENDING LIFE WITH LOVE"

Our Mission

Our mission is to safeguard the life of the unborn child and defend the dignity of the mother, regardless of how the child was conceived, while providing support and resources to protect and nurture new life.

Our Vision

Our vision is to help new mothers become independent, with the ability to support themselves and their children, by introducing them to the love of Jesus, and by teaching them parenting skills and life skills through our educational workshops and through our volunteers, who are mothers themselves.

Our Values

We value both the mother and the unborn child, as life created by God, with the ability to love and to be loved.

Mater Filius Miami is a Catholic apostolate created to help women facing an unexpected pregnancy who find themselves without support.

Pregnant women are welcome regardless of their socioeconomic status, marital status, ethnicity, or religious beliefs.

INSPIRED BY THE SWEET LOVE OF MARY, women receive housing, counseling, and coordination of medical care, as well as, emotional and spiritual support, at no cost to them. Through workshops, they learn parenting skills and life skills. Through prayer, they find the love of Jesus Christ.

Mater Filius focuses on both the unborn baby and the mother. We embrace pregnant women and offer them a safe, orderly, and peaceful environment. A stable and nurturing home is crucial to a worry-free pregnancy, a healthy birth, and the emotional and spiritual growth of the new mom, to prepare her to take on the responsibilities of parenthood.

Pregnancy, by design, is meant to be experienced in the context of family . Our home offers a caring and nurturing family life. Each member of the house, regardless of their role, is changed profoundly by the experience. Thus, Mater Filius not only provides for the physical and emotional needs of the pregnant women who are our guests, but also encourages the emotional and spiritual growth of the donors, volunteers, and staff.

How Does Mater Filius Help?

When facing an unexpected pregnancy, the many fears and challenges can seem overwhelming. Our staff, and the programs we offer, help women deal with these challenges. Common concerns expressed by young women with an unexpected pregnancy are:

  • I’m just not ready to have a child.

  • How can I afford to have this baby?

  • How do I tell my family and/or friends?

  • What if the father of the baby is not supportive?

  • What if I am considering abortion?

  • How does adoption work?

  • How can I continue my education?

  • Where will I live?

The supportive staff of Mater Filius understands that each person’s situation is unique. We are here to help every young woman deal with her concerns through our professional, caring, and life-affirming programs.

“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him.”
